Envisioning Impact: Developing a whole-portfolio approach to driving your mission forward

Every investment and every structure has impact – positive or negative, externality or intentional strategy. As families look toward the future, the strategy of “two-pocket thinking,” making as much profit as possible with one area of operations and supporting mission-aligned causes with another, is increasingly outdated. But if a whole-portfolio approach to driving social and financial returns is the future, what’s the right way to do that? Where do we start? Experts from field-leading families share insights on the right way to develop – and stick to – a family impact strategy.

Confirmed Speakers Include

  • Lauren Sercu, Partner, Sorenson Impact Funds; CIO, Sorenson Impact Foundation

Higher Returns Through Inclusive Approaches to Impact Investing

And what’s possible, once we do? Listen to some of the foremost experts in this space share their experience and best practices.

Balancing Investing Directly and Through other Managers

Many individuals and families like to get into the weeds with exceptional, inspirational founders – and picking individual companies to back can be extremely time-consuming, challenging, and often requires specific expertise. On the other hand, the fees fund managers charge can sometimes make it difficult to incorporate these experts into a well-balanced family strategy. What should you be thinking about as you begin to balance your portfolio, and what can you expect when you lean more one way than the other?

Confirmed Speakers Include:

  • Geoff Davis, CEO, Sorenson Impact Center
  • Jeremy Sookhoo, Director of Investments, Illumen Capital
  • Rose Maizner, Investment Manager, Co-Founder, Womenpreneurs
