Senior Associate, Impact Strategy

The Sr. Associate would have the opportunity to join a growing team in the Impact Strategy division. We consult public, private, and social sector entities to develop impact strategy and measurement and evaluation frameworks to change corporate and social sector behavior. Measurement & Evaluation professionals play an important role in our client work, including project management, capacity building and performance. Expected day-to-day activities include; strategic planning, monitoring and evaluating, analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and supporting research, content generation, data support, and stakeholder engagement.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Assist with the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation projects
  • Conduct research, measurement, and evaluation to develop and manage clear measurement models
  • Monitor and refine research and evaluation goals and implementation strategies
  • Establish mechanisms for rapid feedback and learning within projects as well as for evolving longer-term research projects/agenda(s). Provide statistical, research, and evaluation design expertise to partners
  • Create and revise tools and data collection procedures (e.g. logical framework, project performance tracking, indicators, data flow chart, manuals)
  • Keep abreast of developments in project changes and progress in order to advise and recommend tools and strategies to increase performances and results
  • Contribute to the design of new strategies, portfolio development, innovative data initiatives with focus on coherent, integrated theories of change, measurable impact models, scaling, collaborations and implementation plans to ensure long-term sustainability and impact. Collect, analyze, and summarize external research, identifying relevance and applicability to projects
  • Consult with partners to maximize impact of projects and ensure optimal learning. This may include: site visits, convening meetings of key stakeholders, shaping reports on key findings and coordinating on dissemination plans
  • Promote effective knowledge management activities, including translation of research knowledge to practice environments, and other activities to promote utility of research generated knowledge in field settings
  • Review and draft RFPs and grant proposals
  • Provide clear, concise and insightful written analyses, literature reviews, and recommendations
  • This role is responsible for high quality interactions and clear and consistent communications with business partners

Preferences

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Education, Public Health, or a related area, or equivalency
  • 2 years related experience
  • Demonstrated effective communications skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to use basic statistical and qualitative methods to analyze, interpret, and report on data
  • Strong attention to detail and good observation skills
  • Ability to communicate statistical information to clients/community partners in people first language
  • Experience with community-based participatory research or other forms of qualitative research
  • Demonstrated ability to think systematically, analytically, and logically
  • Commitment to ensuring that evaluation activities are completed in a culturally competent manner
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and develop literature reviews related to educational research, evaluation, and assessment
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Experience with program evaluation and data management in a non-profit, community setting, or for-profit sector
  • Evaluation field experience from multiple academic disciplines
  • Experience in leading the development of new business, scopes of work, and budgets
  • Knowledge of and/or familiarity with the American Evaluation Association’s Guiding Principles for Evaluators

Manager, Impact Finance
The Program Manager will have the opportunity to join a growing Impact Finance team. Our mission is to connect public and private capital to social and environmental impact in communities. The Team is highly collaborative, seeking to develop, pilot and scale new financial structures, models and products that are replicable and scalable to grow the impact finance market. We work at the intersection of community needs, the needs of underserved populations and the needs and requirements of private and public investment capital. We have a diverse set of projects in a variety of sectors including, but not limited to, Pay for Success, Opportunity Zones, community development finance, mental health, health and health equity, early childhood, workforce, and equitable economic growth and development.

With oversight from the Director or Managing Director, the Program Manager will have responsibility for a portfolio of clients and projects, manage up to 3 team members, lead project development, support deal structuring and implementation, contribute to business development activities, lead the development of new business scopes of work and budgets, and contribute to the strategic direction of the Impact Finance Team and the Sorenson Impact Center.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for a portfolio of clients and projects
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize external research, identifying relevance and applicability to projects.
  • Provide clear, concise, and insightful written analyses, literature reviews and recommendations.
  • Project development including determining the scale and scope of the specific social or environmental impact project, developing excel models to assess project economics, identification of outcomes, method of outcomes measurement, work with social service providers to develop implementation plans, develop cost-benefit models. Identify appropriate data sources to measure the achievement of outcomes, if applicable.
  • Support project structuring including development of financial models of project expenses, revenues, benefits, cashflow analysis and internal rate of return, scenario analysis and determine appropriate financing structure and types of investor financing. Develop terms sheets and support contract development between project partners.
  • Facilitate regular calls and meetings with clients and project partners and stakeholders.
  • Create project and client deliverables and review deliverables developed by junior staff.
  • Manage up to 3 Team members
  • Significantly contribute to business development activities

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.

Preferences

  • Experience in finance, business or a related field, with expertise and experience in financial modeling, analyzing investments and/or project economics.
  • Master’s Degree or higher in finance, business, economics or a related field.
  • Experience in social and/or environmental impact finance preferred.
  • Prior work experience in social impact, health, health equity, and/or the environment a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office
  • Experience and ability to design and conduct research, gather data, design and presenting quantitative and qualitative analyses.

Manager, Impact Strategy
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Impact Strategy Manager would have the opportunity to join a growing team in the Impact Measurement and Reporting (IMR) team. The IMR team consults with public, private, and social sector entities to develop impact strategy and measurement and evaluation frameworks and to change corporate and social sector behavior. We anticipate that measurement & evaluation work will play an increasingly central role in our work going forward.
Measurement & evaluation professionals play an important role in our client work, including project management, capacity building and performance. Director, Impact Investment Measurement & Evaluation

The Director will have the opportunity to join a growing team in the Impact Strategy, Measurement and Reporting division. The Impact Strategy team consults public, private, and social sector entities to develop impact strategy and measurement and evaluation frameworks to change corporate and social sector behavior. The position will play an important role in expanding our investment-specific Measurement & Evaluation work. This is an increasingly important part of our Measurement & Evaluation work as a growing number of investors seek to enter impact investing supported with robust impact measurement fundamentals. As such we are looking for a forward thinking, creative leader with expertise in impact measurement frameworks to help our clients and grantees measure the impact of their investments.

Impact Strategy professionals play an important role in our client work, including project management, capacity building and performance. The ideal candidate will also oversee, plan and implement measurement and evaluation program(s) for impact investing as a part of our client work, ensuring goals and objectives are in accordance with established criteria. They will also be responsible for managing teams, and supporting research, content generation, data support, and stakeholder engagement. This role will work hand-in-hand with key external stakeholders (including the Sorenson Impact Foundation) as well as our internal Impact Investing team. The expected day-to-day activities include; strategic planning, client management, project monitoring and evaluating, team management, mentorship, staffing, business development, analysis and reporting.
