Manager, Impact Strategy
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Impact Strategy Manager would have the opportunity to join a growing team in the Impact Measurement and Reporting (IMR) team. The IMR team consults with public, private, and social sector entities to develop impact strategy and measurement and evaluation frameworks and to change corporate and social sector behavior. We anticipate that measurement & evaluation work will play an increasingly central role in our work going forward.
Measurement & evaluation professionals play an important role in our client work, including project management, capacity building and performance. The ideal candidate will also oversee, plan and implement measurement and evaluation program(s) as a part of our client work, ensuring goals and objectives are in accordance with established criteria. They will also be responsible for managing and supporting research, content generation, data support, and stakeholder engagement. The expected day-to-day activities include; strategic planning, monitoring and evaluating, analysis and reporting.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide expertise in M&E planning and methodology including the design and implementation of measurement and evaluation projects
  • Conduct research, measurement, and evaluation to determine performance and impact indicators and targets to ensure clear measurement models
  • Monitor and refine research and evaluation goals and implementation strategies
  • Establish mechanisms for rapid feedback and learning within projects as well as for evolving a longer-term research projects/agenda(s)
  • Create and revise tools and data collection procedures (e.g. logical framework, project performance tracking, indicators, data flow chart, manuals)
  • Keep abreast of developments in project changes and progress in order to advise and recommend tools and strategies to increase performances and results
  • Contribute to the design of new strategies, portfolio development, innovative data initiatives with focus on coherent, integrated theories of change, measurable impact models, scaling, collaborations and implementation plans to ensure long-term sustainability and impact
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize external research, identifying relevance and applicability to projects
  • Consult with partners to maximize impact of projects and ensure optimal learning, including; site visits, convening meetings of key stakeholders, shaping reports on key findings and coordinating on dissemination plans
  • Promote effective knowledge management activities, including translation of research knowledge to practice environments, and other activities to promote utility of research-generated knowledge in field settings
  • Review and draft RFP’s & grant proposals
  • Provide clear, concise, and insightful written analyses, literature reviews and recommendations
  • This role is responsible for high quality interactions and clear and consistent communications with business partners and clients

QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Four years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of assigned department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.

Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.

Director of Fundraising

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a coordinated fundraising strategy, team structure, and annual plan for long-term growth and expansion in collaboration with the COO and senior leadership.
  • Establish and oversee the Development team in collaboration with the COO that aligns and integrates well with existing fundraising teams and activities at the University of Utah.
  • Identify and cultivate strategic funding partnerships with a diverse array of revenue partners, including institutional and family foundations, corporate and individual donors, and government agencies.
  • Build and support a network of strategic partners, including community foundations, family foundations, philanthropic advisors, and wealth managers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related area, or equivalency; eight years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communications skills required.
Masters degree in Business Administration, or related area preferred.

Data Scientist
ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a talented Data Scientist Demonstrated ability to conduct quality research or produce well-crafted work in a quantitative field in a timely and orchestrated manner. A strong foundation in statistics/probability, applied math, and disciplined programming is expected. Must be capable of presenting complex information in plain language and seeking clarification from domain experts through constructive dialog in an efficient manner. Expect to take leadership responsibilities over teams where a sizable amount of contributions come from interns.

For client-facing development, R with tidyverse or Python with pandas/arrow and git is required. Experience with visualization/charting libraries in R or Python is also required. Familiarity with Dockers, SQL and Javascript would be highly desirable. A core responsibility will be in the conceptualization and implementation of methods, tools and infrastructure in social impact – working with new technologies or topics should not be disconcerting for you.

Data Engineer
ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a talented data engineer with Working experience utilizing frameworks and libraries to construct data processing pipelines and deploy end-products like dashboards and datastores for clients. We are also looking for experience. Another major duty would be contributing to the construction of infrastructure for a small data science team. Curation of tools and services is an important part of the job – a penchant for software-design and -engineering principles is desirable. Our emphasis is on using and contributing to open source projects.

For client-facing development, R with tidyverse or Python with pandas/arrow and git is required. Familiarity with Dockers, SQL and Javascript would be highly desirable. For internal development and research, the requirements are mastery of your chosen tools, that these chosen tools choices have a sustainable user base, and your work integrates well with our infrastructure. In line with current practices, we are working to balance our operational workload between on-premise and cloud solutions – contribution to this effort is expected.

Impact Finance Director
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Director will have the opportunity to join a growing Impact Finance team. Our mission is to connect public and private capital to social and environmental impact in communities. The Team is highly collaborative, seeking to develop, pilot and scale new financial structures, models and products that are replicable and scalable to grow the impact finance market. We work at the intersection of community needs, the needs of underserved populations and the needs and requirements of private and public investment capital. We have a diverse set of projects in a variety of sectors including, but not limited to, Pay for Success, Opportunity Zones, community development finance, mental health, health and health equity, early childhood, workforce, and equitable economic growth and development.
 

With oversight from the Managing Director, the Director will have responsibility for a portfolio of clients and projects, manage up to 3-4 team members, lead project development, deal structuring and implementation, business development and contribute to the strategic direction of the Impact Finance Team and the Sorenson Impact Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for a portfolio of clients and projects
  • Lead and oversee project development including determining the scale and scope of the specific social or environmental impact project, developing excel models to assess project economics, identification of outcomes, method of outcomes measurement, work with social service providers to develop implementation plans, develop cost-benefit models and social impact financial models. Identify appropriate data sources to measure the achievement of outcomes, if applicable.
  • Lead and oversee project financial structuring including development of financial models of project expenses, revenues, benefits, cashflow analysis and internal rate of return, scenario analysis and determine appropriate financing structure and types of investor financing. Develop terms sheets and support contract development between project partners.
  • Design and oversee research supporting project development and implementation.
